The Girl With All the Gifts, by M.R Carey.

The premise: children held in seperate cells underground, in a military bunker somewhere in England, only let out of their cells strapped to wheelchairs and wheeled down the hall to a classroom for study with a variety of teachers. Who are these children? Why are they being held? And what purpose might they ultimately serve?

Interesting from the start. Melanie is the main character, and has a strong voice for one so young. Despite her situation, she is cheerfully positive, and you find yourself rooting for her to have a happy ending. We shall see 🙂
